Biographical Note
Marion Burrows Smith (1929-2019) was born on April 6, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leah Burton Burrows and J. Alma Burrows. In 1950 she married Nicholas G. Smith, Jr. Marion Smith attended the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Utah where she graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She earned her graduate degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah. Smith was co-founder and former director of the Intermountain Specialized Abuse Treatment Center, or Intermountain Sexual Abuse Center (ISAT), in Salt Lake City, Utah. Smith received numerous awards and recognitions for her work with the community, including: National Association of Social Workers Utah Public Administrator of the Year (1985), Division of Family Service Award (1986), and the Pan Hellenic Alumni Woman of the Year Award (1985). Marion Smith died on October 16, 2019.
