The Frank Shikashio digital photograph collection contains 4 digitized copies of black-and-white portraits and color photographs of Frank, Miyoshi, and Jimmy Shikashio dating from approximately 1940 to 1970. The images were gathered from the Shikashio family by Minnie Maruji-Adams for a collection of Japanese American veterans.

Biographical Note
Fukutaro “Frank” Shikashio (1883-1970) was born on July 19, 1884 in Fukuoke, Japan. He was married to Miyoshi Kusaba (1896-1993). After immigrating to the United States, they lived in Idaho. Together they had eight children, several of whom died in infancy. Frank and Miyoshi Shikashio raised their family in Lower Presto, Idaho. Their son James Katsumi “Jimmy” Shikashio (1920-2010) volunteered to serve in the Army Air Force during World War II; Jimmy Shikashio also served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which fought primarily in southern France, which they helped to liberate from Nazi control, and in northern Italy. The 442nd was also among the United States troops who liberated Dachau concentration camp in Poland.

Fukutaro “Frank” Shikashio (1883-1970) was born on July 19, 1884 in Fukuoke, Japan and immigrated to the United States, where he and his wife, Miyoshi Kusaba (1896-1993) raised their children in Idaho. Frank's son James Shikashio (1920-2010) served in the United States military during World War II. The Frank Shikashio digital photograph collection contains portraits of Frank, Miyoshi, and James Shikashio dating from approximately 1940 to 1970.
