Scope and Contents
The Rachel Heninger photograph collection contains three black-and-white photographs of a tilt-o-whirl at an amusement park or fair and of a group of people bowling, that date from approximately the 1950s. The collection also contains 1 postcard dated from 1982 addressed to Rachel and Owen P. Heninger from their son Owen. The items were found in a book donated to Special Collections by Rachel Heninger and are assumed to depict Heninger, her family, and friends.

Biographical Note
Rachel Cannon Heninger (1903-2004) was born on April 17, 1903, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lucy Grant and George Jenkins Cannon. She graduated from the LDS High School and the McCune School of Music before attending the University of Utah, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. In 1926, Rachel Cannon married Owen P. Heninger. The couple lived in numerous places—Magrath, Alberta, Canada; Chicago; Los Angeles; Safford, Arizona; and Salt Lake City—before settling in Provo, Utah. Heninger was involved in numerous community organizations in Provo, including: the State and County Medical Auxiliaries; Beta Sorosis Literary Club; the Women’s council of Provo; the Provo City School Board; the Provo Recreation Board; and the Community Concert Board. Heninger taught piano and was active in organizing community and events around music in Provo. Rachel Heninger died on Marc 3, 2004.
