The Sumner Chase Cobb photograph collection consists of 1 box containing loose photographic material removed from the scrapbook held by the Manuscript division, Sumner Chase Cobb papers (ACCN 2434). This includes black and white photographs and picture postcards. The colleciton also contains 8 digital only items that are scans of photographs that remain in the scrapbook held in ACCN 2423. The images depict Sumner Chase Cobb and other Utah actors, including members of the Moroni Olsen Players, dating primarily from the 1920s.

Biographical Note

Sumner Chase Cobb worked as an actor in Salt Lake City during the 1920s. He was affiliated with the Moroni Olsen Players, a group organized by actor Moroni Olsen and based out of Ogden, Utah. The Moroni Olsen Players gave performances at Ogden’s Orpheum Theatre and venues throughout Salt Lake City; they also traveled throughout the American West. In addition to his work as an actor, Cobb was also a member of the fraternity Phi Kappa Phi, University of Maine Chapter.

Abstract

Sumner Chase Cobb was an actor who worked in Utah during the 1920s and was affiliated with the Moroni Olsen Players, a group formed in 1923 and based out of Ogden, Utah. This collection contains photographs, picture postcards, and digital only scans of images depicting Cobb's acting career.
