Historical Note
The Paiute tribe at Walker River have lived there since long before their first contact with white settlers in the 1820's. These interviews were conducted in 1974 to document the tribe's fight to regain lost lands, preserve their culture, and establish rights that have been denied to them.

Abstract
The Walker River oral history audio recordings are a collection of interviews conducted in 1974 with people from Walker River NV. The interviews were conducted by Ed Johnson for his book "Walker River Paiutes: A Tribal History". This collection was previously part of the Ethnic archives oral history audio recordings collection(A0853).
