Scope and Contents
The Tsutomu "Stormy" Mitsui photograph collection is arranged in two series. Series 1: Family, Travel consists of Boxes 1-3 and contains black-and-white and color photographs depicting the Mitsui family and Stormy Mitsui's hobby of building and flying model airplanes. Series II: Photograph Albums consists of Boxes 4 and 5 which are oversize and contain family albums. The album in Box 4 contains color photographs dating primarily from the 1990s. Box 5 contains 3 albums: an album of photographs depicting Hitoshi Mitsui's funeral; an album of black and white photographs depicting the City Cafe in the 1950s; and an album of color photographs of the Mitsui family dating from circa 1989. The box also contains loose oversize prints in folders 4 and 5.

Biographical / Historical
Tsutomu "Stormy" Mitsui was born on February 14, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenko and Miseji Mitsui. He married Chiyoko Yokoyama on April 9, 1944; together, the couple had three children. Mitsui served in the United States Army in World War II. After the war, he returned to Salt Lake City, where he and Chiyoko Mitsui operated the City Cafe. Stormy Mitsui built and flew radio control scale model airplanes. Stormy Mitsui died in Salt Lake City on November 14, 2010.

Abstract
Stormy Mitsui (1922-2010) owned and operated the City Cafe in Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife Chiyoko Yokoyama Mitsui. This collection contains photographs, slides and negatives of Stormy Mitsui’s family portraits, events and gatherings, City Café, Stormy's remote control model airplane hobby, vacations to Japan and California, and hunting and fishing.
