Biographical / Historical
Irving Bazil “Bill” McNulty was born on January 6, 1918. He served in World War II and was imprisoned in a German Prisoner of War Camp. McNulty earned is bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Utah and his doctorate in 1952 from Ohio State University. He taught botany at the University of Utah for 40 years, retiring in 1987. McNulty was involved in the creation of Red Butte Gardens and sat on the board of the State Arboretum. He died on November 24, 2000.
