Scope and Contents

The Nellie Druce Lambert Rawlins photograph collection consists of cabinet cards depicting Rawlins time as a student at the University of Utah from 1904-1905. Nellie Druce Lambert Rawlins was a student at the University of Utah in education, and graduated in 1905. The photographs are unidentified except one portrait of Nellie Lambert Rawlins. She is also identified in the group photograph. The others are presumably her classmates and/or professors at the University of Utah. Also included in folder 1 is a brief biography of Rawlins written by her daughter and included with the donation.

Biographical / Historical

Nellie Druce Lambert Rawlins was born on 1880 October 28 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lilly Harriet Almira Druce and Charles John Lambert. The Lambert family lived in Butlerville and Granger during her early childhood. Beginning in 1899, Nellie Rawlins lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her older sister, where she attended Grant School and West Side High School. She attended the University of Utah, graduating from the Normal School, or teacher training school, in 1905. In September 1905, she began teaching in Lewiston, Utah, which she continued until 1907. Nellie Lambert married George Franklin Rawlins in Salt Lake City, Utah on 1908 June 17; together, they had six children, one of whom died in infancy. The couple lived and worked together on a farm. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Nellie Rawlins taught Sunday School, genealogy and served as secretary and treasurer for the Lewiston 1st Ward Relief Society. Nellie Druce Lambert Rawlins died on 1965 June 29.

Nellie Druce Lambert Rawlins (1880-1965) attended the University of Utah Normal School for teaching education in the early 20th century. This colleciton contains photographs of Rawlins, her classmates, and perhaps professors during her time at the University of Utah.
