These folders include correspondence from Clayton's service as an LDS missionary. Partial letter extracts are also included. Six original letters have been removed from folder 1 and placed in Reserve. Photocopied versions are available in the collection for access purposes. Access to the originals must be given by the Manuscripts Curator and by appointment. An archivist must remain with the items if being used.

This is a pocket diary Clayton kept while serving an LDS mission in England.

Included is autobiographical and family information, as well as records of traveling expenses as a missionary.

Missionary entries constitute the first part of this original notebook while the rest of it functions as a poetry and composition book. Pages have been cut and torn out irregularly, sometimes in parts. Sometime in the past, the pages were used as a cutting table and are now a lacework of cross cuts.

A variety of entries, including family expenses, are included.
