Scope and Contents Mr. Harmston joined the Army Air Corps on March 10, 1943 and took officer training in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was assigned duty on the California coast. Attended adjutant general school in Fort Washington, Maryland, and was assigned as battalion adjutant to a black battalion. Their duties were to load and unload ships.
