Jones served as Episcopal Bishop of Utah from 1916 to 1918, and spent the remainder of his life doing missionary work across the eastern United States and assistant teaching at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Jones died of multiple myeloma in 1941 at the age of 60.
