The Rudger Clawson papers (1870-1943) consists of memoirs, autobiographical accounts, diaries, letter books, loose letters, scrapbooks, newspaper and periodical clippings, printed books and miscellaneous documents. Clawson was born in Salt Lake City a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) Church. The William H. Smart diaries (1886-1937 and 1979-1981) describe William activities as a Mormon missionary in Europe and as president of the Eastern States mission (1899-1900). They also describe his business activities in southeastern Idaho and eastern Utah as well as his town settlement and LDS Church activities. Included with the diaries are articles and clippings about his life.
