Friends of Gilgal Garden photograph collection

Abstract

Gilgal Garden is an outdoor sculpture park located in Salt Lake City, Utah, created by Thomas Battersby Child, Jr. (1888-1963) in the backyard of his home starting in 1945. In 2000, Gilgal Garden was purchased by the Friends of Gilgal Garden and opened as a city park. This collection contains color photographs, negatives, slides, and digital photographs documenting the Friends of Gilgal Garden's efforts to preserve and restore Gilgal Garden between 1996 and 2008.

Kent Frost (1917-2013) was a Utah river runner, tour guide, and author who lobbied for the creation of Canyonlands National Park. This collection consists of images of the Frost family and friends; images of Kent Frost's mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and service in the United States Navy; and images from his explorations of southern Utah's outdoors including river runs, camping, and his Canyonland Jeep tours.

The Garden Club of Cottonwood was organized in 1923 by Elizabeth Judge O'Brian; it fell into a period of inacitivy and was reinstated in 1931 as a women's club. This collection contains color photographs of club events dating from 1974 to 2015.
