Abstract The William E. McLellin papers (1831-2008) consist of correspondence, and typescripts of this correspondence by the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints History Commission. It also contains news clippings and articles about McLellin (1806-1883) and his misadventures concerning the LDS Church. McLellin joined the LDS Church in 1831 and was appointed one of the first apostles in 1835. He was excommunicated in 1838 and spent the next forty-five years in and out of various LDS splinter groups.
