Alexander Baird autobiography
The Alexander Baird autobiography was edited and arranged by his granddaughters Delores Hopkins Woodland and Marilyn Baird McArthur. Baird (1832-1915) was born in Paisley, Scotland. His autobiography narrates his sailing adventures around the globe, his conversion to the LDS Church, and life in Utah.
William S. Godbe statement [photocopy]
The William S. Godbe statement (1984) is a photocopy of the handwritten version in which Godbe describes his excommunication by the LDS Church, subsequent mining and smelting ventures in Utah Territory, his disagreements with Brigham Young, and his abandonment of polygamy. Godbe was a prominent Utah businessman. He was a member of a group of intellectual LDS dissenters that became known as the Godbeites and was excommunicated by the LDS Church in 1869.
James Holt biographical sketch
The James Holt biographical sketch (1881) is entitled "Life of James Holt: Early Pioneer." This is not a journal account, but rather Holt's recollection of life events written in 1881 when he was 77 years of age. James Holt (1804-1894) was an early member of the LDS Church who settled in southern Utah.
