In addition to the manuscripts, other written material and ephemera give a detailed picture of Western life. Pedler was a long-distance rider, cowboy, and horse wrangler. He was also a prolific writer of fiction.

Roosen skiing collection (1969-1991) includes bibliographies, examinations, reports, and correspondence stemming from Roosen's teaching of a ski history class; pamphlets and clippings on ski resorts; articles and books on various aspects of skiing; copies of the "Alta Powder News" (1967-1991). Roosen was a professor of history at Northern Arizona University where he taught a class in ski history.
