Abstract The Emma Josephine Young Gilliland letter [typescript] was sent to her mother in 1850 July 23. This letter was written during a stop in Salt Lake City describing a trip from Indiana. Tells of the trip through Emigration Canyon, general trail conditions, food and conditions in Salt Lake City; tells of plan to move on to California in the spring. Typescript incomplete; last page of original letter missing.
