Buchanan is professor emeritus of educational studies at the University of Utah.
Robert Lang Campbell papers
The Robert L. Campbell papers (1840-1873) contain his diaries, correspondence, genealogy, and broadsides. Robert L Campbell (1825-1874) was an early Mormon educator, and one of the pioneers who crossed the Overland Trail in 1854. He was the Territorial Superintendant of Schools, and is widely held responsible for the birth of the school system in Utah.

Emery G. Epperson papers
The Emery G. Epperson papers (1938) is a bound collection of music, some written by him, and a short history of his life as a teacher at West High. Written by Linda Colunga, the book exists on the level of a living memorial to Emery Epperson (1890-1965), who was a much-loved teacher.

A large number of the photographs document his various technological and equipment inventions, as well as early television shows, the first TV broadcast. Also personal photographs of his family and colleagues.

Philo T. Farnsworth papers
The Philo T. Farnsworth papers (1903-1983) contains biographical material, financial records, news clippings, speeches, articles, books, research notes, correspondence and awards. Philo Taylor Farnsworth was an educator and school superintendent in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also was involved in the Mahanain Foundation, a religious education group, and was deeply involved in the theosophy and of its foundation.

The Anne Marie Fox Felt papers (1874-1967) contains a history of the organization of the kindergarten movement in Utah from 1874, biographies of women involved in the Utah State Kindergarten Association, scrapbooks, proposal and rough draft of a thesis "History of Kindergarten Education in Utah" submitted for a Master of Arts degree at the U. of U., and information on the Kiwanis-Felt Boys and Girls Club.
