The John L. Ginn papers consist of a bound carbon-copy titled "Mormon and Indian Wars." John L. Ginn was a member of a wagon road expedition that traveled west from Independence, Missouri, as well as a captain in the United States Army. Some of the key events in the book, from 1857 to 1861, include the investigation of the Mountain Meadows Massacre; encounters with Brigham Young, Porter Rockwell and John D. Lee; and the Utah War.
