Abstract The John Hoagland avalanche publications collection (1933-1990) contains published technical reports and monographs mostly from the United States Forest Service on avalanche research and the impact of avalanches on alpine skiing. Included are manuals for the National Avalance School sponsored by the Forest Service, as well as technical reports relating to avalanche control. Hoagland is a winter recreation specialist for the United States Forest Service.
