The Anne M. Smith papers (1936-1980) primarily stem from material gathered by Dr. Smith in 1936 and 1937 in the course of field work conducted among the Native American peoples of the Great Basin, the Ute Tribe in particular.

The Utah folklore collection (1947-1997) consists of student folklore projects which spans nearly fifty years. These projects were prepared by University of Utah students studying in various courses and workshops taught by Louis Zucker, Wayland D. Hand, Hector Lee, Barre Toelken, Jan Harold Brunvand, Margaret K. Brady, and David Stanley.
