Included in the papers are issues of The Redeemed Hebrew, a newspaper directed to the conversion of Jews to Christianity along with genealogical materials on the Gardner and Fugel families and Milford Gardner's diary of a Mormon mission to the Eastern States, 1926-1928 and the diary of Alda F. Gardner.

The Ora Lee Knecht correspondence (1926-1931) contains photocopies of four letters from historian B. H. Roberts to Ora Lee Knecht. Roberts was a Mission President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Knecht was a missionary for the Eastern States Mission from 1924 to 1926, serving as Roberts' secretary for most of that time.

William H. Smart diaries
The William H. Smart diaries (1886-1937 and 1979-1981) describe William activities as a Mormon missionary in Europe and as president of the Eastern States mission (1899-1900). They also describe his business activities in southeastern Idaho and eastern Utah as well as his town settlement and LDS Church activities. Included with the diaries are articles and clippings about his life.

Elsie Ross Whittaker papers
The Elsie Ross Whittaker papers (1915-1947) contain materials relating to being an LDS missionary in the Eastern States Mission from 1922 to 1924, including her diary, a letter from B. H. Roberts, mission circular letters, programs, her patriarchal blessing, and a scrapbook. Elsie Ross Whittaker was born on 22 December 1893 and died in June 1971.

The Joseph A. Young journal (1864) details Young's appointment to "take general charge and oversight of affairs pertaining to this year's immigration" of LDS Church members from Liverpool, England, to Salt Lake City.
