George B. Sanderson journal
The George B. Sanderson journal (1846-1847) was written by Sanderson who was a doctor assigned by the U.S. Army to accompany the Mormon Battalion on the 2000 mile march from Missouri down the Santa Fe Trail and ultimately to California. The Mormon Battalion was initially under the command of Col. Allen, and after his death was under the command of Phillip St. George Cooke. Included in the collection is a typescript (1995) version of the journal.
George W. Taggart papers [typescripts]
The George W. Taggart papers (1846-1847, 1978) consist of a typescript of Taggart's journals and letters to his wife, and a brief postscript to the story written by his grandson, Spencer L. Taggart. The originals are located in the LDS Church Historian's Office.
