Abstract

The Beehive House Restoration Committee records (1897-1964) consist of records of the committee and tour materials prepared by the committee containing historical information on this Brigham Young residence in Salt Lake City. Included are a list of period items placed in the home, a chronology of the restoration effort, a tour script, and a script for a slide presentation on the building. Also included is a news clipping from 1897 describing the home.

Marsena Cannon (1812-1900) was a daguerreotypist who migrated to Salt Lake City in 1850; he is credited as Utah's first commercial photographer. This collection contains photographs of Cannon, his family, and a photograph of Brigham Young dating from approximately 1867 to 1870.

The Alfred Cumming papers (1857-1865) consist of a microfilm copy of personal and official correspondence and a letterpress book relating to Cumming's service as Governor of Utah Territory, 1858-1861. Includes letters from Thomas L. Kane, Brigham Young, and his wife, Elizabeth Cumming; Cumming's personal record of those fleeing east from Utah while wintering with the Utah Expedition at Camp Scott, Wyoming; scrapbooks of national clippings from Cumming's term of office.
