Abstract
This collection (1971-1985) consists of various items relating to the history of Japanese Americans in Utah. Included are issues of The Lotus, the newsletter of the Japanese Buddist Temple in Salt Lake City, an issue of the newspaper Pacific Citizen (1977), and a typewritten essay titled "History of the Japanese in Utah" by Alice Kasai.

Alice Kasai (1916-2007), raised in a small town in rural Utah, saw her husband taken away by the FBI and incarcerated in an internment camp in the early days of World War II. The Henry Y. Kasai papers (1907-1966) contain material relating to the personal and professional life of Henry Y. Kasai, a leader in Utah's Japanese American community. The bulk of the collection consists of the minutes, history, and president's files of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) of Salt Lake City, the formation of which Kasai initiated in 1935.
