Scope and Contents

This collection contains letters (1831-1894) concerning various events in Utah history. Included are three letters from Brigham Young to Thomas W. Ellerbeck concerning business matters, 1871 and 1876; one letter from Brigham Young requesting the Utah Central Railroad Company to pay over $10,000 to T. W. Ellerbeck, 1871; one letter from Daniel H. Wells to Brig. Gen. W. B. Pace concerning the use of the local militia to protect Sanpete County from attacks, 1867.
Also included is a poem entitled "To Emma by S. M. Kimball;" a blessing for Thomas W. Ellerbeck, 1851; deeds; a diary written by William C. Spence; a diary by an unknown creator; several certificates; and a letter to David T. Lewis regarding family materials and history.
The original items located in box 1, folders 1 and 2 have been removed and placed in Reserve. Access must be given by the Manuscripts Curator and by appointment. An archivist must remain with the item/items if being used.
