Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The John Elliott Welsh papers (circa 1910-2000) is composed of mining and geological materials collected by Welsh, a geologist who received his Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1959. The collection is centered around mining and geology in Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, and Wyoming and includes maps, reports, essays, articles, correspondence, charts, diagrams, and notes. Also included in the collection are some personal papers and class materials. The class materials are arranged by class title and then by subjects taught in those classes. For the most part, original titles given to materials by Welsh were kept.

Twenty-four hour advanced notice encouraged. Materials must be used on-site. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law.
