Scope and Contents
From the Collection:
The Rachel Seamons Hancey autobiography (circa 1900) describes her life in England and travel to Cache Valley, Utah. In the account, Hancey describes her class-conscious childhood in the village of All Saints, Suffolk County, England from 1834 to 1843. She describes being "hired out" as a housemaid, kitchen girl, cobbler's apprentice, etc. She also describes the religious fervor in England leading her to join the LDS Church. Her marriage and move to Utah are also documented.
