Josephine Bowman theater programs and clippings collection
Collection
Identifier: ACCN 1051
Scope and Contents
The Josephine Bowman theater programs and clippings collection consists of two boxes.
The first box contains theater programs, as well as materials dealing with the U of U summer festivals. These programs begin in 1948 and end in 1961. There are, however, several older programs which were apparently kept as collector's items. Among these is a program dating from 1899, featuring Maude Adams in The Little Minister. Also in this box are examples of summer festival tickets, mailers, and stationary.
Box 2 consists of newsclippings. Most are mounted on cardboard mattes, since they came out of scrapbooks which were deteriorating. Clippings describe and review shows from Showboat (1948) to Carmen (1961). The bulk of the clippings deals with Song of Norway and Salome" of the 1957 summer festival. There also some miscellaneous clippings of other University of Utah theater and ballet performances during the same time period.
