Organizational History

In the 1930s, the Salt Lake City Zoo, which was located in Liberty Park, moved to its present location near the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Buildings formerly occupied by the zoo were available for occupancy and Russel L. Tracy and his wife thought the space would be ideal for an aviary. A plan for the aviary was proposed and accepted in 1938.
