Scope and Contents

The Intermountain Ski Instructors Association records (1937-1998) contains material on this association and other ski-related organizations. The records consist of meeting minutes, financial and business documents, event and committee records, certification documents, rosters, and newsletters. Boxes 1 and 2 contain board of directors records and meeting minutes. Box 3 contains correspondence, bylaws, reports, questionnaires, and meeting minutes produced by various committees. Similar documents relating to instructor certification are in box 4. Box 5 holds records regarding the business and financial aspects of the association. Box 6 contains event records, including party planning and seminar information, and newsletters. Ski school and other instruction-oriented documents are in box 7. Records from the Professional Ski Instructors Association are located in box 8. Correspondence, meeting minutes, newsletters, and pamphlets concerning the National Ski Association of America are in box 9. Documents regarding a variety of ski schools and ski associations, including the Far West Instructors and Rocky Mountain Ski Instructors associations, are housed in box 10.

Historical Note

The Intermountain Ski Instructors Association was formed in 1950. The purpose of the organization was to promote skiing by providing competent ski instructors. In addition to certifying instructors, the Association also conducted free clinics, sponsored a demonstration team, supported area competitions, and distributed a newsletter to members, area operators, the media, and various national ski organizations.

Abstract

The Intermountain Ski Instructors Association records (1937-1998) contain materials documenting the activities of the Intermountain Ski Instructors and various other ski-related organizations, including the Professional Ski Instructors Association, the Far West Instructors, and the Rocky Mountain Ski Instructors. Included are meeting minutes, financial records, newsletters, correspondence, and reports. The Intermountain Ski Instructors Association was formed in 1950. The purpose of the organization was to promote skiing by providing competent ski instructors.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

This collection was donated by officers of the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association in 1976.

The 2000 addendum was transferred from the Norm Burton papers (ACCN 1814) in 2000.
