The Ossian F. Taylor papers (1851 and 1909) contain an overland diary, a transcript of the diary, and a photocopy of the Taylor family genealogy. The diary depicts his struggles while moving west and records his family history.

Biographical Note
Ossian Farewell Taylor (1832-1909) was born in Mexico, Maine. When he was eighteen years old, he visited his sister Fannie in Iowa and decided to cross the plains with her and her family to Utah where they would join the other members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Taylor was not a member of the LDS Church.
