Biographical Sketch

David Kranes is a nationally recognized Utah writer, primarily writing plays and short fiction. He received his Doctor of Fine Arts from Yale University in 1971, and began teaching in the English department at the University of Utah the same year. He served as the acting director of the Creative Writing program from 1992-1995, and again in 1997-1998. Dr. Kranes also served for fourteen years as Artistic Director of the Sundance Playwrights’ Lab.
