Alexander Baird autobiography
The Alexander Baird autobiography was edited and arranged by his granddaughters Delores Hopkins Woodland and Marilyn Baird McArthur. Baird (1832-1915) was born in Paisley, Scotland. His autobiography narrates his sailing adventures around the globe, his conversion to the LDS Church, and life in Utah.

The Pearl Biddlecome Baker papers (1986) contain three essays written by Baker concerning the history of the Western United States.
Thomas Hart Benton letters
The Thomas Hart Benton letters (1846, 1852) contain correspondence from Benton. In the first letter, Benton suggests that the one to two thousand Americans who were in Northern Mexico be taken in with Col. Kearney's troops and used to protect the Santa Fe route. In the second, Benton thanks Professor Lubin for recommending Great Basin be renamed after Benton's son-in-law, the explorer John C. Fremont.

The Lettie Dewey Campbell personal narrative [photocopy of transcript] provides an account of her return to New York from an LDS mission in Scotland. During the voyage her ship was struck by an iceberg. Also included is a photocopy of a newsclipping regarding the event.

The John Carbutt photograph collection contains stereographs by John Carbutt documenting various scenes along the Mississippi, in Chicago, the Rocky Mountains, and along the Union Pacific Railroad in Nebraska.
Butch Cassidy collection
The Butch Cassidy collection (1984-1986) contains manuscripts, articles and a letter that relate to the life of "Butch Cassidy" whose real name was Robert Leroy Parker,(1866-1908?). Cassidy is one of the most famous American bank and train robbers. Butch was associated with the "Wild Bunch" and "Hole in the Wall" Gangs.
Charles Cather letter
The Charles Cather letter (1870) consists of one three-page letter, in photograph format, from Cather to his sister, Jinnie Cather. Cather writes of his adventures prospecting through the "Western Wildes" of Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas.
John W. Dawson article
This John W. Dawson article is entitled the "True Story of What Happened on the Santa Maria: the Ethics of Revolutionaries." John W. Dawson was a passenger turned hostage onboard the Santa Maria a Portuguese liner which was taken over by revolutionary Henrique Galvao in 1961.

English diary (1876) records the trip from Fort Shaw, Montana, in an attempt to centralize the Indian population of the Montana Territory with the mission culminating in Custer's battle with the Sioux. William L. English served as First Lieutenant in Company I of the Seventh Infantry.

The Philip L. Fradkin papers (1790-2012) consists of materials relating to environmental author Philp L. Fradkin (1935-2012) including his research, notes, manuscripts and copies of his articles. Fradkin worked for several newspapers and won a Pulitzer for his coverage of the Watts riots.

The Art Gallenson slide collection consists mostly of slides by Art Gallenson and a few color photographs of Gallenson's wedding. These slides are from around the western part of the North American continent, especially areas of the Southwestern United States.

The Galloway-Stone Expedition photograph collection consists of 100 4X5" copy prints, with accompanying negatives. The copy prints were taken from a leather-bound photograph album belonging to Mrs. Fred Kemp of Morgan, Utah, a granddaughter of Parley Galloway, son of Nathaniel Galloway.

The Francis Vinton Greene diary and letter (1874-1875) were created by General Francis Greene, a military engineer, historian, and businessman. Greene describes his activities around Yellowstone Park, mining conditions in Virginia City, Indian hostilities, and records latitude and longitude data during his travels.
