The Beverly Kuhns digital photograph collection consists of 80 digital scans taken from 35mm color transparencies. The original slides were taken by Ruth Pieroth, a retired schoolteacher from Escalante, Utah, during a series of visits to the Glen Canyon damsite from 1957 through about 1962.

Daniel McCool has taught at the University of Arizona, Texas A&M University, and the University of Utah. Formerly the Director of the American West Center at the University of Utah, McCool is currently the Director of Environmental Studies.
