Also included are transcripts of speeches by Ezra Taft Benson supporting the organization. The Freemen Institute was a conservative political organization based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Many of its members were Mormon Church members.

Gardner was an employee at the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah. Most of the collection contains information on Robert H. Hinckley, who founded the Hinckley Institute, and politics in general. Gardner grew up in Hinckley, Utah.

Included in the papers are issues of The Redeemed Hebrew, a newspaper directed to the conversion of Jews to Christianity along with genealogical materials on the Gardner and Fugel families and Milford Gardner's diary of a Mormon mission to the Eastern States, 1926-1928 and the diary of Alda F. Gardner.
