The film Lost Forever, Everett Ruess is a docu-drama by Utah filmmaker and photographer Diane Orr that loosley interprets the story of Ruess, a Los Angeles artist who hitchhiked to Arizona in 1931 where he wandered into the desert alone and ultimately disappeared. His fate remains unknown.

The Robert Marsham diary (1864-1865) consists of a photocopy of the original diary. Marsham was a well-known explorer, and in this diary he describes his travels in Northern California, British Columbia, Yosemite, Idaho, Utah, the Sandwich Islands, and the Far East. The Thorn L. Mayes Sr. papers (1920s-1980s) consist of correspondence, maps, brochures, pamphlets, articles, field books, bulletins, and other materials concerning the exploration of canyon country in Utah and Arizona. A graduate of the University of California (1927), Thorn L. Mayes Sr. (1903-1987) was an electrical engineer who conducted geologic explorations of various areas in the western United States, such as Monument Valley.

The August H. Mihsfeldt papers (1940s) consist of an unpublished manuscript of Mihsfeldt's English translation of Historia de las Indias de Nueva-Espana y islas de Tierra Firme, a 1951 edition of Diego Duran's history.
James F. Milligan diaries
The James F. Milligan diaries (1846-1854) consist of two volumes written by Milligan. The first is his account of life aboard the Albany, a U.S. sloop of war, while the second concerns his experiences during Fremont's fifth expedition in 1854. James F. Milligan was a Navy midshipman, a Confederate signalman, a newspaper correspondent, and a member of Charles Frémont's 1854 expedition.

The Doyce Blackman Nunis papers (1850-1960) consist of a collection of articles about the Old West and many of its more famous characters. Most of the articles are from such publications as True West and The Real West. It also contains articles about specific areas, such as fur trapping, frontier living, and some women's stories.

The Robert Jerome Parsons photograph collection consists of 134 color 35mm transparencies taken by Dr. Parsons while he was a member of the 1955 Eggert-Hatch film expedition down the Green River from Green River Wyoming to Jensen, Utah.

The Ern Pedler papers (1914-1986) spans his career and creative life, from his high school writings to a letter granting a magazine interview in the 1980s. In addition to the manuscripts, other written material and ephemera give a detailed picture of Western life. Pedler was a long-distance rider, cowboy, and horse wrangler. He was also a prolific writer of fiction.
